How to Validate a Website

1.  Who owns the website?

a. Determine the website name by removing all the information after the first slash of the http://www.

    Example: http://www.burltwpsch.org/users/nfranco/

    Becomes: burltwpsch.org

    b.  Go to http://www.netsol.com

    c.  Click on WHOIS.

    d.  Type in the website name (burltwpsch.org).  Click on SEARCH.

    e.  A description of who owns the website will be displayed.

2.  Who is linking to the website?

a.  Determine the website's name by removing all of the information after the first slash of the http://.

    Example: http://www.burltwpsch.org/users/nfranco/

    Becomes: www.burltwpsch.org

b.  Go to http://www.altavista.com

c.  Type the word "link:" (don't forget the colon!)

d.  Type the website address (URL).

e.  Press Enter.

f.  Click, read and examine who is linked to the website.
