Using Video Video in the Classroom

The focus of this workshop is to provide a view of how video production can enhance the teaching and learning environment. Hands-on instruction in the creation of digital content using Movie Maker will illustrate how these tools can reshape the learning environment. Registrants will also find sites with videos available for download.

Microsoft Excel: Graphing Power Tool for Teaching

Excel users who are past the beginners stage using this powerful application with their upper elementary students will want to check out this intriguing lesson plan.  Participants will conduct a survey and then locate pictures related to a topic of choice using either a digital camera or an Internet website.  Then they will learn how to manipulate these images to create a pictograph in Excel which can then be imported into Microsoft Word.

Excel Spreadsheet: A Gradebook

This whole day or two part class will introduce you to Microsoft Excel.  We’ll explore ways to use it as a tool in the classroom for collecting and organizing data.  Learn how Excel can function as an electronic gradebook to help you keep track of student progress over the course of the school year.  Consider using Excel and Word to create your Progress Reports this semester.

During this T4T session, learn to locate entertaining templates online, practice pointing and clicking your way to a finished presentation that could be used as a review session with your students, import sounds and create hyperlinks. Bring a content area textbook with you to class.
